Hon. Victoria Gerrard Chaney (Ret.) Joins ADR Services, Inc.
We are thrilled to announce that Hon. Victoria Gerrard Chaney (Ret.) has joined ADR Services, Inc. as a distinguished mediator, arbitrator, referee, and appellate consultant.
Justice Chaney brings over four decades of unparalleled legal experience to our team. She was confirmed to the California Court of Appeal, Second District, Division One, in 2009, following nineteen years as a trial judge. Her experience as an appellate justice is broad and deep, having handled an extensive array of cases including civil, criminal, family law, probate, dependency, and writs, both civil and criminal in nature. Additionally, she has sat by appointment on the California Supreme Court and has served as a special master for the Commission on Judicial Performance.
Justice Chaney was assigned from its inception in early 2000 until her nomination to the Court of Appeal in July 2009 to the Complex Litigation Division at Central Civil West Courthouse, where she presided over many fascinating and notable cases. Her caseload involved both large class actions, mass torts, insurance coverage, construction defects, product liability actions, pharmaceutical claims, environmental claims, labor law and Government disputes.
Justice Chaney is highly regarded for her exceptional judicial demeanor, intelligence, and case management skills. Known for her respectful and considerate approach, she created a courtroom environment that was both professional and personable. Her analytical and thoughtful handling of complex legal issues highlighted her intellectual rigor. In trials, she efficiently managed sprawling, complex cases, focusing on essential issues and facilitating effective resolutions.
